Studio Dance Theatre members have been rehearsing since the beginning of September in order to bring their audience some exciting new works. This weekend’s performance will feature two classical ballet variations, Aurora Act 1 and La Bayadere Kingdom of Shades choreographed by Marius Petipa. Agnes Scott Senior Dance major, Bhumi Patel, choreographed a new work, …Before Her Wandering Feet, that was chosen by a panel of adjudicators at this semester’s Dance and Dine performance to be performed in Danceworks. Two works by Studio Dance Theatre’s Director, Bridget Roosa, will also be performed, Beautiful Bird and Enamored Flames. Beautiful Bird was first performed last spring and has been reworked for this semester’s Danceworks. Enamored Flames is a new work that features collaboration with the Theatre and Music departments. Finally, Falling Off the Back Porch which is a beautiful piece choreographed by Clay Taliaferro and reconstructed from a Labanotation score by Bridget Roosa.
Studio Dance Theatre’s 2011 performance of Danceworks will be presented this Friday and Saturday (November 18 and 19) at 8 pm in Gaines Chapel, Presser Hall. Tickets are $5 general admission and free for the ASC community.
